Jowai

The new music destination of 'Meghalaya', 'Jowai' is much more than a stage for the melodies. It is in the unknown and unexplored 'Jaintia' hills of Meghalaya. Recently collecting fame of being the host of the famous 'NH7 Weekender' music festival, 'Jowai' is quite the spot for the ardent nature lover. We too chose it to be our next destination. uncovernortheast!!!

We started early in the morning from 'Guwahati' , Assam. The heart finds it's joy as soon as we hit the hills of Meghalaya. After taking a diversion before 'Umiam' towards the airport, the twisting roads opened up to valleys of green.

We were already riled up with hunger and stopped at the'Cabana Serene Restaurant and Guest House' for some refreshments.They serve some good Chinese food and the outdoor board is not hyped either; there is a swimming pool ladies and gentleman.

The drive through the forests was nostalgic with the amount of previous journeys. It was really surprising to see that Meghalaya was so blessed with such natural abundance.

We arrived at the 'Thadlaskein' lake , surrounded by hills of pine trees, it just looked stunning. We also checked out few of the resorts alongside the lake.

'Tyrshi' falls , located a few kilometers ahead of the 'Thadlaskein' lake, is one of the most spectacular spots in the area. A dirt road leads to an unmanned parking lot in the middle of nowhere. We started on foot through the paddy fields, towards the lake. The tread itself was refreshing. We really felt one with nature. At last we reached the falls. It is a sight to behold; beauty at its zenith.

We were smitten by an unfamiliar view of the world where there were no concrete jungles and cars. All we could see around us were miles of greenery and few humble huts at distances. We sat there for hours and lost track of time.

It was getting dark and was time to say goodbye. We packed our stuff and drove to where we are the most comfortable in ,the mountains , in search of our next adventure.
