Wakro
A paradise unexplored, a utopia unweathered by time, still in its natural prime; Arunachal Pradesh is one of the most scenic lands in India. 'Wakro' aptly demonstrates the untouched beauty of this place. Nestled in the hills of 'Lohit', this tiny village has a lot to offer. uncovernortheast!!!
We started from 'Miao', a bordering town between India and Burma (Myanmar). It was drizzling, perfect weather to cover the country sides. Sweet smell dissolved in the air was freshening the atmosphere. A craving for hot 'momos' was the popular feeling so we stopped at the 'Hopak' restaurant in the town of 'Namsai'.
The 'Golden Pagoda' in 'Tengapani', on the way to 'Wakro'; is one of the most scenic 'Pagodas' in the country. We decided to pay a visit. We were aw struck by the sheer beauty of this place. The hymns and the chorus chanting by the disciples added to the peace and tranquility. It was rather a very mystical experience. (Unfortunately, photography is not allowed inside the temple premises.)
Adjacent to the Pagoda, there is the 'Golden Pagoda Eco Resort'. Encompassing acres of land, this is one of the largest resort in Arunachal Pradesh. The beautifully decorated cottages sit in the gardens of flowers. Th property is so huge that there are mini trucks for house keeping services.
The cottages reminded us of the old colonial times. A night is worth spending in this splendid retreat. After strolling in the property for a while, we started heading towards our destination 'Wakro'. The hills were again calling to us and as usual the excitement grew as we approached them.
The twining roads led us to the small village of 'Wakro'. This small dwelling has recently come up as a tourist spot with small hotels mushrooming in and around the place. 'Wakro Eco Resort','Ninashi Home stay', are but a few places for a memorable stay amidst the clouds.
'Parshuram Kund' ,a holy site dedicated to 'Lord Parshuram' ; is approx 16 kms from 'Wakro'. It is quite a trek through the hills to reach the main 'Kund'.But every effort seems less when you get to see nature at its grandest spectacle. It is believed that a dip in this holy water cleanses all your sins. You really have to be there to feel the aura. It is priceless.
It is just amazing to see people leading such simple yet rich lives in these parts of the world preserving everything that nature has bestowed upon them. Treasuring the beautiful scenery in our hearts and minds, we hit back the lonely roads to the mountains, only this time trying to distance ourselves, back to where we had come from. Sense of satisfaction and at rest, engulfs you when your expectations are met with and that is exactly what we felt at the end of this journey.
